Tamil Nadu to Conduct Centralised PG Allied, Healthcare Counselling; Self-Financing Institutions Included for 2026–27

The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Kilpauk, Chennai-10, has issued Notification No. 1784/SCSII(2)/2026 dated 29 June 2026 for centralized counselling of Government Quota seats in self-financing institutions affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.

As per Government Letter No. 685, Health and Family Welfare (PME-2) Department dated 10.06.2026, the Government has permitted the Selection Committee to conduct centralized counselling for the following PG Allied and Healthcare Professional courses from the academic year 2026-2027.

Courses Included in Centralised Counselling

The notice includes the following courses:

  1. Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.)
  2. M.Sc. Audiology
  3. M.Sc. Speech Language Pathology
  4. Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics
  5. M.Sc. Nuclear Medicine Technology
  6. Master of Optometry (M.Optom)
  7. M.Sc. Critical Care Technology
  8. Master of Medical Laboratory Science
  9. Master in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology (MMRIT)

The Selection Committee has been directed to include all Allied and Healthcare Professional courses under the centralized counselling process for 2026-27 and to issue the prospectus accordingly.

Seat Sharing Pattern for Self-Financing Institutions

The seat sharing pattern for self-financing institutions will continue as follows:

  • Non-Minority Institutions: 65% Government Quota and 35% Management Quota
  • Minority Institutions: 50% Government Quota and 50% Management Quota

This pattern will apply to the PG Allied and Healthcare Professional courses covered under the centralized counselling process.

Important Instruction for Candidates

The Selection Committee has stated that the University will register candidates admitted under Government Quota only if they submit the allotment order issued by the Selection Committee.

Candidates should note that:

  • The allotment order is mandatory for registration under Government Quota.
  • No candidate will be registered without the Selection Committee’s allotment order.
  • Candidates must follow the official counselling and admission instructions carefully.

Instructions for Self-Financing Institutions

The notice has been issued to self-financing institutions affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University offering PG Allied and Healthcare Professional courses. Institutions have been asked to cooperate and follow the guidelines issued by the Selection Committee and NCAHP, New Delhi.

The Selection Committee will take the necessary steps to implement the centralized counselling process for the 2026-27 admission session.

Admission Process for 2026-27

With this notification, Tamil Nadu has introduced centralized counselling for Government Quota seats in PG Allied and Healthcare courses offered by self-financing institutions. The process is expected to ensure uniform admission procedures and proper seat allocation for eligible candidates.
