The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh has released important information and instructions for candidates participating in the first round of UP NEET MDS 2026 online counselling. As per the notice, only candidates who have been declared successful in the NEET MDS 2026 entrance examination are eligible to participate in the counselling process.
Eligible candidates are required to complete their registration by logging in to the official UP NEET counselling portal, upneet.gov.in. Candidates must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 3,000 through the online mode.
In addition to the registration fee, candidates must deposit the prescribed security money. Candidates opting for government MDS seats are required to deposit Rs. 30,000, while candidates opting for private dental college MDS seats have to deposit Rs. 1,00,000. Candidates depositing Rs. 1,00,000 as security money will be eligible for seats in both government and private dental colleges.

Candidates will be required to fill their college choices online according to their preference. There is no prescribed limit on the number of choices that candidates can fill. However, candidates are advised to select only those colleges in which they are genuinely interested in seeking admission.
After completing choice filling, choice locking is mandatory. Candidates who fail to lock their choices will automatically be excluded from the seat allotment process, and responsibility for this will rest with the candidate.
Candidates allotted seats in government dental colleges will complete their admission process at the respective university level. For candidates allotted seats in private dental colleges, the admission process will be conducted at the designated nodal centres.
The notice states that the list of nodal centres is available in the NEET MDS 2026 counselling brochure on the official websites of the Uttar Pradesh counselling authorities.
Candidates who receive an allotment must report personally to the allotted government dental college or designated nodal centre. They will also have to submit all required academic, reservation and other certificates in original form during the admission process.
A medical examination by the Medical Board constituted at the dental college or nodal centre will also be mandatory for allotted candidates.
Candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of Uttar Pradesh must ensure that their certificates are issued on or after April 1, 2026.
The notice further states that reservation certificates for OBC, SC, ST and EWS categories will be accepted only when issued by the competent authority of Uttar Pradesh in the prescribed format of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Certificates issued in the format prescribed for appointments under the Government of India will not be accepted for the state reservation process.
For candidates claiming disability reservation, the disability certificate must be issued from the prescribed centres and in the prescribed format as per the directions of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Director General of Health Services (DGHS) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. The applicable guidelines issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) will also have to be followed.
