Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, has issued an important notice announcing changes to the permission status and intake capacities of AYUSH colleges in Telangana for the academic year 2026–27. The notice, dated October 12, 2026, concerns admissions to undergraduate AYUSH courses, including Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) and Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS).
According to the university, two colleges have received permission for their respective undergraduate courses, while the approved intake capacity of MNR Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy, has increased from 80 to 100 BHMS seats. The revised permitted seats will be incorporated into the respective seat matrices for admission under the Competent Authority Quota (CQ) and All India Quota (AIQ), as applicable, in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations.
| College Name | Course | Updated Intake Capacity | Permission Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government Nizamia Tibbi College, Hyderabad | BUMS | 75 seats; 94 including EWS seats | Permission granted |
| Gurunanak Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad | BHMS | 50 seats | Permission granted |
| MNR Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Sangareddy | BHMS | 100 seats, increased from 80 | Conditional permission granted |
Government Nizamia Tibbi College, located in Hyderabad, has received yearly permission for its undergraduate BUMS course for the academic session 2026–27 from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine (MARBISM), under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).
The permission was granted through reference number 11-01/2026-27/MARB(UNANI), dated October 6, 2026, following an appeal against an earlier denial of permission.
The approved intake capacity is 75 BUMS seats, or 94 seats including EWS seats. KNRUHS has stated that the permitted seats will be included in the relevant seat matrices for admissions under the Competent Authority Quota and All India Quota, as applicable.
The permission letter also specifies that a minimum of 15% of the permitted intake is to be treated as All India Quota, with counselling conducted by the designated central counselling authority. The remaining 85%, or the applicable balance, will be handled by the concerned state counselling authority.
The permission is subject to the conditions specified by NCISM, including compliance with applicable educational standards, infrastructure and teaching requirements, and other regulatory provisions. The college must submit the required compliance report by December 31, 2026, for consideration of permission for the 2027–28 academic session.
Gurunanak Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, located in Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, has also received permission for its BHMS course for the academic year 2026–27.
According to the KNRUHS notice, permission was granted by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Homoeopathy (MARBH), under the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), through reference number F. No. 4-7/MARBH/NCH/2026-27(121-06), dated October 6, 2026.
The college has been permitted an intake capacity of 50 BHMS seats. These seats will be reflected in the applicable Competent Authority Quota and All India Quota seat matrices in accordance with the prescribed rules.
Candidates seeking admission to BHMS courses in Telangana should check the official university notifications and updated seat matrices for the applicable admission and counselling details.
MNR Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy, has received conditional permission to increase its BHMS intake capacity from 80 to 100 seats for the academic year 2026–27.
The permission letter, issued by MARBH on October 9, 2026, follows the college's appeal against an earlier decision. The National Commission for Homoeopathy directed conditional permission for 100 BHMS seats, subject to the college appointing one teaching faculty member in the Department of Community Medicine and ensuring registration on the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) portal within 30 days.
The revised capacity of 100 seats will be reflected in the relevant seat matrices for Competent Authority Quota and All India Quota admissions, as applicable.
The permission letter further states that admissions must be made only from NEET-qualified candidates for BHMS and AIAPGET-qualified candidates for postgraduate Homoeopathy courses. At least 15% of the permitted intake is to be treated as All India Quota, with the remaining 85%, or the applicable balance, handled by the designated state or UT counselling authority.
The college's permission is conditional on meeting the prescribed requirements. Candidates should consult the official notifications and applicable counselling rules before making admission decisions.
The updated permissions and intake capacities apply to the academic year 2026–27.
