The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has released an important admission notice for candidates applying to MBBS and BDS courses in Government Medical and Dental Colleges under the Assam State Quota for the 2026 academic session.
As per the notification, eligible NEET UG 2026 candidates can submit applications for category changes and for inclusion in the Provisional Assam State Merit List if they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Candidates who wish to change or correct their reservation category can submit the prescribed application form along with supporting documents to the Office of the Director of Medical Education, Assam on or before 11 August 2026 during office hours.
The application form is available on the official DME Assam website, and applications must be submitted by hand. Applications sent through post, email, or any other mode will not be accepted.

Such candidates can apply for inclusion in the Provisional Assam State Merit List by submitting an application in plain paper along with the required supporting documents before 11 August 2026.
The DME has clarified that eligible applicants seeking inclusion in the Assam State Merit List will subsequently be required to produce a certificate confirming that the last three generations have been residing in Assam, in the prescribed format and issued by the competent authority, as notified by the Government of Assam.
