The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced important changes to the LL.B. 3-Year and 5-Year Integrated LL.B. Centralised Admission Process (CAP) 2026-27. As per the public notice dated August 7, 2026, eligible candidates have been given a one-time opportunity to edit and resubmit their College Option Form for CAP Round 1.
The changes have been introduced as several law colleges are receiving approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI) and affiliation from respective universities during the ongoing admission process. Newly approved and affiliated colleges are being added to the CAP process in phases.
Candidates who have already submitted their College Option Form for Round 1 can now access it again for editing. They can consider newly added law colleges and refill or modify their preferences.
The revised College Option Form must be finally submitted by August 9, 2026. The form submitted within this deadline will be considered only for CAP Round 1 seat allotment.
The CET Cell has discontinued the Auto Freeze system for the 2026-27 admission process.Even if a candidate is allotted a seat in their first-preference college in CAP Round 1 or Round 2, the seat will not be automatically frozen. Candidates can choose either to Freeze the allotted seat or select the Betterment option.
Candidates who are satisfied with their allotted seat and want to confirm admission must:
Candidates who want to be considered for a higher-preference law college or a newly approved law college in subsequent CAP rounds can select the Betterment option.
Candidates opting for Betterment must pay the ?1,000 Seat Acceptance Fee and select the Betterment option through their candidate login. They will remain eligible for subsequent CAP rounds.
Candidates choosing Betterment can also submit a fresh College Option Form or modify their existing preferences before the Second and Third CAP Rounds.
The Maharashtra CET Cell has clarified that no Betterment option will be available after the Third CAP Round. The seat allotted in CAP Round 3 will be treated as final.
Candidates allotted seats in the Third CAP Round must report to the concerned institution within the prescribed period and complete the admission process.
