The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially invited online applications from eligible Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) for recognition to offer programmes under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and/or Online mode for the academic year 2026–27, with the session beginning from August 2026.

As per the public notice dated 23 April 2026, the online application window will be open from April 27 to May 11, 2026. Interested institutions must submit their applications through the official portal within the given timeline.In addition to the online submission, HEIs are required to send a hard copy of the application along with affidavit and annexures by May 20, 2026 to the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), UGC, New Delhi.

UGC has clarified that submission of an application does not guarantee approval, as all applications will be scrutinised based on UGC ODL and Online Programme Regulations, 2020 and its amendments.Institutions are advised to carefully review eligibility criteria, application guidelines, and fee details available on the official DEB portal before applying. Click here to apply for UGC ODL/Online Programme Recognition 2026-27.
