The National Testing Agency (NTA), in coordination with the University Grants Commission (UGC), has issued a public advisory for candidates appearing for the UGC-NET examination at examination centres located in Delhi.

The advisory was issued on September 8, 2026, ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 11 to September 13, 2026.

UGC NET 2026 Delhi Exam Centre Advisory

According to NTA, extensive security arrangements will be put in place in Delhi during the BRICS Summit. The Delhi Traffic Police and other concerned authorities are expected to implement traffic diversions, restrictions and other traffic-management measures in different parts of the national capital.

NTA has clarified that the UGC-NET examination centres are not located in areas expected to be directly affected by the major restrictions. However, candidates travelling to examination centres in Delhi may experience traffic congestion, route diversions and delays on certain routes.

Therefore, candidates have been advised to make suitable travel arrangements and plan their journey well in advance.

NTA Advises Candidates to Reach Exam Centres Early

NTA has advised UGC-NET candidates appearing at Delhi centres to take the following precautions:

  • Plan the journey to the examination centre well in advance.
  • Keep sufficient additional travel time in view of possible traffic restrictions and congestion.
  • Check the latest traffic advisories issued by the Delhi Traffic Police and other concerned authorities before starting the journey.
  • Reach the examination centre well before the reporting time mentioned in the UGC-NET admit card.
  • Follow all instructions regarding reporting time and examination-day requirements mentioned on the admit card.

The agency has specifically advised candidates to make appropriate travel arrangements in advance to avoid inconvenience or delays in reaching their examination centres.

BRICS Summit 2026 to Be Held in New Delhi

The advisory has been issued because the 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 11 to September 13, 2026.

The security arrangements associated with the summit are expected to affect traffic movement on selected routes across Delhi. Candidates appearing for UGC-NET examinations during this period are therefore advised to factor possible delays into their travel plans.

UGC NET Candidates Should Check Their Admit Card

Candidates should carefully follow the reporting time and other instructions mentioned on their UGC-NET admit card. NTA has advised candidates to avoid last-minute travel and allow sufficient time for possible traffic-related delays.

Candidates should also check the latest traffic advisories before leaving for the examination centre.
