FMGE October 2026 Registration Begins; Check Important Dates, Eligibility, Fee and Exam Details

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the Information Bulletin for the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) October 2026 session. The online application process for FMGE October 2026 is scheduled to begin on September 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM and candidates can submit their applications online until September 25, 2026, up to 11:55 PM.

FMGE is the screening test for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) holding primary medical qualifications obtained from medical institutions outside India and seeking registration to practise medicine in India, subject to applicable requirements. The examination is conducted by NBEMS under the Screening Test Regulations.

FMGE October 2026: Important Dates

According to the official Information Bulletin, candidates should carefully follow the prescribed timeline:

The bulletin specifically states that the online application window will close on September 25 at 11:55 PM, while the deficient document submission portal will close on October 21 at 11:55 PM, with no further opportunity after the prescribed deadline.

FMGE October 2026 Examination Fee

The prescribed examination fee for FMGE October 2026 is:

• Examination Fee: Rs.3,940.68
• GST @ 18%: Rs. 709.32
• Total Payable: Rs. 4,650

FMGE October 2026 Eligibility

Candidates must carefully check the eligibility requirements before submitting the application.

For the October 2026 session, candidates should have qualified the final examination for their Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent degree) on or before August 31, 2026. Candidates must also submit supporting proof of having passed the qualification by the prescribed cut-off date. Failure to substantiate the qualification with the required documents may result in cancellation of candidature.

The foreign medical qualification must also meet the applicable recognition requirements. The bulletin specifies that the foreign medical degree should be attested by the concerned Indian Embassy or Apostilled by the appropriate authority of the concerned foreign country, in accordance with the requirements of the Hague Apostille Convention.

FMGE October 2026 Exam Pattern

The FMGE examination consists of one paper containing 300 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The examination is conducted through a computer network, with four answer options for each question, provided in English.

Candidates should carefully read the examination scheme and instructions contained in the official bulletin before appearing for the examination.

Important Application Guidelines

NBEMS has advised candidates to exercise extreme caution while entering their personal and identification details.

During registration, candidates must enter their Name, Email ID, Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number and Nationality carefully because these details cannot subsequently be changed.

Candidates who successfully submit their application and payment will receive an opportunity to edit certain information during the September 29–30, 2026 Edit Window. However, Name, Nationality, Email ID, Aadhaar, Mobile Number and Test City cannot be changed during the edit window.

Candidates whose photograph, signature or thumb impression is found deficient may be allowed to correct the images during the October 3–19, 2026 Selective Edit Window. Failure to rectify incorrect images within the prescribed period may lead to rejection of the application.

Deficiencies related to documents such as the Primary Medical Qualification certificate, Indian Embassy attestation/Apostille, Eligibility Certificate or Admission Letter and proof of citizenship can be rectified up to October 21, 2026. Candidates failing to submit the required documents will not be allowed to appear in the examination.

Candidates Advised to Beware of Fraud

NBEMS has strongly cautioned FMGE applicants against sharing sensitive information with third parties. Candidates have been advised not to share personal information, examination documents, application details, login credentials, OTPs, identity documents, photographs, admit cards or scorecards with any third party, agency, online platform or individual.

NBEMS has also stated that it does not authorize any individual or organization to collect examination-related or personal information from candidates on its behalf. Candidates are advised to rely only on official communications issued directly by NBEMS.

FMGE October 2026 Admit Card and Result

The FMGE October 2026 Admit Card will be available for download from the NBEMS website from October 27, 2026 onwards. Candidates who are declared ineligible before the examination will not be issued an admit card.

The FMGE October 2026 examination is scheduled for October 31, 2026, while the result is expected to be declared by November 30, 2026.

Candidates are advised to read the complete FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin and carefully verify their eligibility and documents before submitting the application. NBEMS has clearly stated that the online application through its website within the prescribed timeline is the only valid method of application, and applications submitted through other modes or after the deadline will not be accepted.
